Alys Willman
Alys Willman holds a PhD (ABD) in Urban and
Public Policy from The New School, Milano Graduate School for Management and Urban Policy. She has recently
completed a multi-year study of the economics of risky behavior among
commercial sex workers in Managua, Nicaragua, results from which have been published in Feminist Economics
and the International Feminist Journal of Politics. Prior to joining the GPIA,
she worked as a journalist and policy advocate for five years in Latin America,
living in Nicaragua, Chile, Peru, Guatemala, Mexico, Colombia and Cuba. Her
research interests include gender and development, risk, and informal and
illicit economies.
