South Africa IFP 2007

Johannesburg, South Africa: Urbanization and Inequality

The South Africa IFP will be based on a combination of internships and academic activities loosely structured around the theme "Urbanization and Inequality: Innovations in Policy". Students will have the opportunity to analyze their experiences and explore the implications of their first-hand observations for broader agendas of urbanization and development.

The internship will be based in Johannesburg, with a possibility of linking some of the activities to the Global Studio, an interdisciplinary studio and forum and related events in the city. The Global Studio is an on-going teaching and research project, which provides opportunities to develop new modes of professional education and practice with policy and research implications as well as possibilities for developing networks and partnerships.

The South Africa IFP will be linked to the spring course "Urbanization and Inequality in Brazil and South Africa".
