The Cities and Urbanization projects include the International Field Program and the Practicum in International Affairs.

The International Field Program (IFP) related to the CU Concentration is an integral part of the Graduate Program in International Affairs (GPIA) in gaining hands-on experience working with diverse organizations.

The Practicum in International Affairs (PIA) related to the CU Concentration is a final semester capstone course that provides students the opportunity to apply everything learned from course work, internships, summer programs and past job experience. The course is centered around a discrete consulting engagement of three months for an international client organization. Based on a Terms of Reference, students design an approach to their assignment, conduct data collection and analysis, and produce a report or other final product. Finally, the team makes a formal presentation to the client and The New School community.
