Building Evidence and Policies for Inclusive Societies
The New School, Theresa Lang Center, 55 W. 13th Street, NYC
April 26-28, 2010
We would like to invite you to the 5th International Conference organized by the Graduate Program in International Affairs at The New School and UNICEF.
The aim of this conference is to inform thinking and practices around key issues and trends related to adolescent girls and emerging global challenges.
It will offer a space for sharing innovative research and evidence on policies and programs that view adolescent girls as central to strategies to meet the challenges of demographic transition, economic crises, climate change, and technology and innovations, highlighting risks, but focusing on opportunities.
Mr. Nicholas Kristof, New York Times columnist and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, author of the bestselling book, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, CRC Expert Ms. Marta Mauras and Ms. Mary Robinson, first female president of Ireland and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (via video) will be Keynote Speakers. Please visit Equity for Children to view the conference agenda (draft).
This international conference will bring a select group of researchers and practitioners together to exchange ideas and mobilize a policy agenda for adolescent girls. Papers and panels will come from over 20 countries and several organizations, such as the UNICEF, the UN Foundation, Population Council, Nike Foundation, Plan International, Care, the World Bank, IDS, John Hopkins University, Harvard University, etc.
Now in its fifth year of partnership, UNICEF and the GPIA have successfully created a forum to promote innovative policy debates, and to leverage evidence, analysis, policy and partnerships in favor of the realization of children's and adolescents' rights.
The Conference is free of charge and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
