Alia Nankoe works as a Capacity Development Coordinator in the Humanitarian Response Branch of the United Nations Population Fund. She has developed practice-based courses to counter gender-based violence in the US and in Senegal, where she worked as a UNFPA Program Officer in Dakar. She helped coordinate the Tsunami response in Indonesia in 2004-5, and has worked in Geneva on HIV/AIDS for the IOM, UNAIDS and UNHCR. She holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Maxell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, and she currently teaches Project Development and Program Management at GPIA.
