Bio

Dante decided to return to school after spending several years in Japan gaining valuable international and cultural affairs experience as a language and multiple subject teacher at the junior high school level. His experiences there gave him the understanding about himself he needed to change careers and follow the path of the international affairs specialist. He has earned a Japanese language and East Asian Studies BA from The Ohio State University and has continually made it his goal to focus his research on the Asia-Pacific region to discover more about the richness of the region's history, and native societies. Concurrent with his time spent in the Graduate Program for International Affairs he worked with the United Nations to disseminate their primary publication, the UN Yearbook, which details the organization's multilateral missions to bring peace, economic and social development, and security to all parts of the world. As a participant in GPIA's International Field Program: Hong Kong he acted as a Japanese language consultant to a local Non Government Organization which needed assistance determining the status of Japanese labour laws, labour conditions, and statistical information of Chinese migrant workers in Japan. His MA thesis concerned Japan's pursuit of greater international affairs engagement in the twenty-first century by examining and revising existing English as a Foreign Language policy and programs used to achieve this agenda. His academic and career interests include, but are not limited to: East Asian domestic and international policy reform, human rights advocacy, and EFL curriculum and policy reform in East Asian countries.
