Join the Media & Culture Concentration as we welcome GPIA's newest faculty member,
Sean Jacobs
Thursday, April 16, 2009
4:00 - 6:00 PM
66 W 12th Street, Rm 501
After an exhaustive search that yielded many excellent candidates, Sean Jacobs
emerged as GPIA's newest faculty member in Media & Culture. If you missed
his job talk, this is your chance to meet him and hear him speak on his
background, research and interests, as well as his extensive experience in
international (and particularly, South African) media and journalism. Also,
come to get a sneak preview of his proposed Fall 2009 course, 'Africa and the
West,' which will explore the history of images of Africa in Western media
(print media, television and more recently, online), and examine how such images
have shaped and continued to shape both the outcomes and our understanding of
key events in recent African history.
Come prepared to welcome Sean, and show him what GPIA students have to offer!
