Media & Culture Concentration presents:
a conversation with
Monday, March 30, 2009
However premature, pronouncements about the death of journalism are on
the rise. What does this mean for the Media & Culture
concentration? What, if anything, can you do with it within this new
context?
Come get answers to these questions (and more during) our annual
concentration meeting, when we will be hosting a conversation with
rising journalist Peter Savodnik. Hear firsthand about Savodnik's
experiences covering international news - and get your questions
answered about what it takes to "make it."
Peter Savodnik is a journalist in New York. He has written for GQ,
Harper's Magazine, Conde Nast Traveler, W, WWD, Time, Wired, Slate, The
Los Angeles Times Magazine, The New York Review of Books, The
Washington Post, The New Republic and other venues. Formerly based in
Moscow, he has traveled extensively in the former Soviet Union and
reported on politics, crime, culture, travel and fashion from that part
of the world. One of many highlights of Savodnik's two-year stint in
Russia was a five-week trip on the Trans-Mongolian railroad, beginning
in Moscow and ending in Beijing.
