In the summer of 1995, 8000 men and boys were murdered in and around the Srebrenica region by Serbian forces. These forces included Scorpions, a Serbian paramilitary unit active in Serbia, Bosnia and Kosovo. The Scorpions filmed their activities including the execution of six Bosnian Muslin civilians. The footage was used in the war crimes trials in The Hague.

The Scorpions is a 52-minute documentary produced by the Belgrade-based organization Humanitarian Law Center. It uses the footage filmed by the perpetrators to cast light on the horrors of war and on the personal, intimate aspect of these crimes.

Join Film Director Lazar Stojanovic and professor Anna Di Lellio for a lively discussion after the film. The discussion will be moderated by the series curator Simone Duarte.
