Bio

What I'm up to now

I'm currently living in Houston, Texas. I am working as Project Administrator at the Latin America Initiative of the Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University.

I am very involved with the Latin America Forum, which I co-founded together with Alejandra Davidziuk and Monica Paz back in the day (2006).

What I've done in the past

Before moving to Houston, I worked at The New School as the Coordinator of the International Field Programs, for which I also chaired the Bogotá IFP during the Summer 2006 and 2007.

I was also the Coordinator for both the Argentina Observatory and the Observatory on Latin America at the GPIA.

While studying at the GPIA I worked as a research associate at the Argentina Observatory, basically on issues related to the conceptualization, representation and celebration or commemoration of futures in an urban setting and issues surrounding the privatization of public services in Buenos Aires. I took part in the Buenos Aires IFP (2005) and led a team doing field research on citizenship and public services in the city.

Before coming to The New School, I worked for 4+ years as a consultant for UNDP in Colombia at the Office of the Mayor of Bogotá as the Advisor on International Affairs. I started working at the end of Enrique Peñalosa's administration, stayed through all of Antanas Mockus' and came to New York at the beginning of Lucho Garzon's admin.

Before that I worked in the private sector, as part of the Financial Area at an Insurance Broker company. I also worked for a brief period in the automotive industry.

For 2+ years I taught English as a Foreign Language in Bogotá. I greatly admire the people that take on such an endeavor and appreciate the challenge.

What I'm interested in

I am particularly interested in urban dynamics in Latin America (especially Bogotá), with a focus on the international relations between cities based on local governments (governance, decentralization, glocal issues, local diplomacy, piracy, networks etc.)

I am also interested in old abandoned urban structures, especially old factories or productive spaces.
