Christina McElderry

Christina is the Program Assistant for the International Affairs Program.  She is a Ph.D. candidate in Politics at the New School for Social Research with a dual focus on political theory and American politics, particularly questions of space, territory, and state-building.  Her research interrogates the ontological status of territories and states, with a focus on a history of the U.S. Department of the Interior.  Other interests include feminist and queer theory, geography, race and ethnicity in the U.S., theories of sovereignty, and politics of vision and sight.  She has a B.A. from St. Catherine University (MN) in women's studies, urban policy, and sociology.
