Will there be a make-up session for those who cannot attend the IFP Information Sessions?
Unfortunately we will not be holding make-up information sessions. If you cannot attend the session, read up on the individual programs. If you have additional questions, you can then contact the program coordinators directly, (e-mails will be listed on their respective country program page). Students interested in the IFP are also encouraged to check out past IFP programs.
Can I use the same application to apply to more than one IFP program or should each program be applied to separately?
Please apply to all programs with the same application. Even when applying to multiple programs, one essay per application is sufficient. Be sure to point out on the application what your first, second and third choices are.
Do we need to do an essay for all the three countries or simply one essay for the application?
Applicants need to submit only one essay for the application, in the essay explain why you would like to go to the IFPs that you have chosen as your 1st and 2nd choices.
What is the IFP Program Fee for?
The program fee covers a number of different costs that makes running the IFP possible. The fee of $1,000 finances collaboration with the local organizations that students will work with, funds any excursions students take or materials students receive while on their IFP, and their housing. It should be noted that most IFP students will get some or all of this fee back through financial aid.
Is there a form that a doctor needs to fill out in order to confirm that we're fit to travel, or just a general note?
Students need to submit a general note from their doctor stating that, after a physical examination, the student is cleared to travel abroad. A general template can be found here.
I have not been able to schedule a doctor's appointment to get medical clearance for travel prior to the application deadline, is it acceptable to submit the rest of the application materials by the deadline, and send the doctor's noted when I get the appointment?
The doctor's note can be submitted after the application deadline but all other materials should be submitted on time.
Do I need to submit the proof of language proficiency with the application?
If you do not have proof of language proficiency at the time of application, we will be giving language proficiency tests later in the semester.
Are students outside GPIA eligible?
Currently the International Field Programs are open to Media Studies, Milano and BA/MA New School students.
When is the $1,000 deposit for the IFP is due?
January 29, 2010 by 5:00 pm.
Can my spouse come with me on the IFP?
While GPIA recommends students participate in their IFP alone, so they can focus on internships, projects and academic work, we understand that in some cases you will be accompanied by loved ones. In that case you will have to arrange and pay for your own housing. You are still expected to participate in all IFP obligations - internship, lectures, activities, etc. Spouses, friends, etc, will not be allowed to participate in IFP field trips, seminars or other activities.
