Stacey Flanagan
Stacey Flanagan is the Deputy Director of Public Health Programs at
Medical & Health Research Association of NYC, Inc. (MHRA). As part
of her position, Stacey works to strengthen the internal capacity of
the organization's Women, Infants, and Children supplemental food
program (WIC), WIC Vendor Management Agency, and the Sudden and
Unexpected Infant Death Counseling and Education Center of NYC.
In addition, Stacey has worked with several nonprofit organizations to provide strategic planning, goal setting, and program implementation. Stacey's formidble anti-hunger experience came through her role as Sr. Manager of a program of Share Our Strength that provides long-term solutions to fight hunger and poverty through nutrition education. There, she developed and implemented a franchise-style direct service program in 16 states, working in cooperation with Executive Directors to provide protocol, licensing and contract agreements. In addition, Stacey led the development of a retrospective evaluation model to accurately track behavioral change in low incomes families participating in the program.
As the Director of Engagement and Mandel Fellow at The Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management, Stacey coordinated a national training program for the Drucker Self-Assessment Tool and Meeting the Collaboration Challenge while implementing a new training component to the Foundation’s programming. While at Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City (BBBS), she managed a joint venture between BBBS and Fordham University Graduate School of Social Services to provide training to over 1,000 youth nonprofits in New York City.
As a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer, Stacey served as a community development specialist, working with the National Development Corporation of Costa Rica to provide training and technical assistance to local municipalities, develop small enterprise businesses with women, and plan programs supporting alternative education to adults.
In her spare time, Stacey volunteers on her community board in Manhattan's Chelsea/Clinton neighborhood along with several nonprofits, such as: Peace Corps Fund, Globalhood, freeDImensional, Art for Change, and Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation.
Stacey graduated Michigan State University with a BA in Political Science, holds an MS in Nonprofit Management from Milano the New School for Urban Policy and Management, and is currently working on her PhD.
