Simone Duarte

Simone Duarte (M.A.I.A., New School) has a degree in communications from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. She teaches the course Documenting International Affairs at GPIA where she also curates the Documentary Film Series. Durate is currently directing and producing Track 4 about students from The New School who go beyond the newspapers headlines and took the challenge of simulating a peace negotiation in the Middle East. Duarte is a Brazilian journalist and filmmaker whose credits include a 2002 Emmy nomination for the news coverage of the 9/11 attacks; a 2001 Honorable Mention from the United Nations Correspondents Association for her television series on East Timor and a Silver Medal for her first feature documentary En Route to Baghdad from the UN Correspondents Association in 2004.
