Application and Selection Process
Who is eligible to apply?
- Graduate students from The New School
- No Incompletes
- Minimum GPA of 3.3
- 15 credit minimum by end of Spring semester
How to apply?
You will submit your IFP Application online at gpia.info and send two electronic files in same email to ifp@gpia.info.
1. International Field Program Application (Submit online)
2. Recent CV or resume, with brief essay for first choice IFP country program. (Submit via email. Name file "LastName_FirstName_firstIFPCountry")
3. CV or resume, with brief essay for second choice IFP country program. (Submit via email. Name file "LastName_FirstName_secondIFPCountry")
The brief essay (approximately 500 words) should explain:
- Your reasons for wanting to participate in that particular IFP site, what relevant experience or coursework draws you to spend the summer in that country?
- What prior experiences (research, internships, community service, travel, extracurricular activities, etc.) have you had that make you a strong candidate?
- What you expect to gain from the experience and how the IFP fits into your future studies and goals.
Do not send applications directly to Faculty Coordinators. Questions regarding the application process should be addressed to ifp@gpia.info.
Applications will not be reviewed until all materials have been received.
What else is required?
Should you be invited for an interview, you must be available for one of the interview sessions that will be held from Monday, Oct. 18 to Friday, Oct. 29, 2010. We will be contacting you in mid-October to schedule an appointment.
2011 IFP DEADLINES:
Application Deadline for GPIA students: Monday, Oct. 11, 2010
Applicant Interviews: Monday, Oct. 18 - Friday, Oct. 29, 2010
Notification of Acceptance: November 1, 2010
Accepted students need to attend the Acceptance Meeting on November 5, 2010.
